Helping your Child Achieve their goals through a holistic and family centered approach

Therapeutic Journey

Where can we provide therapy?
  • In home
  • Preschool
  • Private School
  • Daycare Centers
  • Afterschool Programs
  • In Office
What is the process to get started?

1) Call our office or complete our new patient intake form to start the intake process.

2) Our patient care coordinator will complete a complementary benefits check with your insurance company to verify coverage and patient responsibility so you have an idea of what treatment will cost before getting started

3)Once your benefits are verified, you will complete your new patient paperwork to complete before scheduling your first appointment.

4) Once your paperwork is completed, you will receive a call from our patient care coordinator to be matched with the best qualified therapist and schedule your evaluation.

Do we have to do an evaluation?

In most cases your child will need an evaluation as it allows the therapist to get to know your child’s strengths and weaknesses and formulate a treatment plan for therapy. If your child has been evaluated recently we may be able to use this evaluation in place of our own evaluation but must be reviewed by staff before making this decision.

What does the evaluation consist of?

Your therapist will review your/your child’s medical history, inquire about current concerns and discuss your goals and what you hope to achieve in therapy. Your therapist will then perform an objective evaluation and need time to score and report the findings. The therapist should be able to give you initial findings at the time of the assessment but likely needs time to analyze the results before recommending the type and frequency of therapy. Finally, there will be time to ask questions or revisit any topics needing additional clarification. You will receive a call from our patient care coordinator to book future appointments that will facilitate optimal progress and ensure you have appointment dates and times that work best for your schedule.

How many times a week is therapy required?

Your therapist will make a recommendation based on the results of the evaluation. It is hard to predict the frequency of therapy without a formal evaluation.

How long will therapy last?

At Back Bay Speech & Occupational Therapy, we understand that each individual responds uniquely to therapy and progresses at their own pace. Therefore, it’s challenging to provide an exact duration for therapy services. Our therapists continuously assess your goals and adjust the treatment plan based on your progress.

Throughout your therapy journey, your therapist will regularly discuss your progress during sessions and collaborate with you or your family. When both you and your therapist agree that your goals have been met and you’ve made significant progress, your therapist will prepare you for discharge from therapy.

Rest assured, we are committed to providing you with the support and guidance you need to achieve your therapy goals, and we’ll work with you every step of the way until you reach your desired outcomes.
